Goodbye Poetry.com

David Lechner 1962 (MA)

Goodbye Poetry.com
D. Lechner, Jan 9, 2022

I thought my posting poems, on this web site would be cool.
There were so many authors, but I think that I was fooled.

For when I read the terms of use, each and every tiny line,
I see how they will take the rights, each and every time.

The rights to post the work, on their web site, seemed OK.
But it seems they get to re-publish all of it, and never the authors, pay.

So this will be my last post here, until they change their terms.
and instead of being pirates, instead help poets, some royalties, earn.

If you like my work, and now would like, my other poems, to read,
Find me on Mark Zukerburg’s site, dave.lechner.12  is my news feed.

And if you are an author here, and also protest dare,
Please like this one also, there below, and show you also care.

The offending terms are in the first few paragraphs:
you agree  ...... "to grant STANDS4 LLC a perpetual, royalty-free, non-exclusive, sub-licensable right and license to use, reproduce, modify, adapt, publish, translate, create derivative works from, distribute, perform, play, make available to the public, and exercise all copyright and publicity rights with respect to your contribution worldwide and/or to incorporate your contribution in other works in any media now known or later developed for the full term of any rights that may exist in your contribution."
