Affects
Lawrence S. Pertillar 1947 (Connecticut)
Living to not question,
Or show interest in that which affects...
One's quality of life directly?
Is a sign of neglect.
Inexcusable to place blame,
Somewhere else.
To expect this accepted.
Yet...
This activity,
Is as routine as dismissing...
One's responsibility,
To be held accountable for what they do.
Since many of us,
Have grown accustomed...
To do as we please.
Knowing it easy to victimize,
Whomever we choose.
With a convenience to have defended,
Our rights to be entitled...
The freedom to deceive,
And abuse a truth...
We have been taught to teach,
Not to live it but evade!
'Help me understand,
What you have done to do to yourself.
You admit the doing of it.
To now say,
Someone else should have suggested...
Another way,
That would not have affected you...
Personally?'
'Yes. That is correct!'
'And you honestly believe,
Your irresponsibility is theirs to receive?
To free you,
From being held...
Accountable for your own actions?'
'Yes, I do.
Why?
What is the problem?'
'The problem?
I can't put my finger on it.
However...
I would say,
This 'problem' started in your head.
And stayed there to be validated.
By the ones who taught you to believe,
The keeping of your thought process,
Will someday be envied.'
'Whew!
That's a relief.
And I was told that too.
Thank you.
And all this time,
I thought something was wrong with me!'
'No!
That problem of yours?
Seem to be these days,
To belong to the rest of us made crazed!'
'Stop joking like that.
I'm serious.'
'I know.'
