Earned

What is it about my happiness,
To have achieved with it earned...
Found and blessed to get.
You seem to believe given to me.
Who sold you that rumor,
You bought to tell?

My peace of mind,
That I found to find?
Came from obstacles to face.
And not negativity,
Remarkably replaced.

Happiness to have it,
Is not easy to obtain.
Or complaining on a daily basis,
To do this unchanged.
Nor should anyone expect,
Someone else should deliver theirs.
Done to leave them with less.
As if it is their obligation,
To pass an evaluation that proves...
They are willing to share,
With another incapable to do.

Too many are seeking,
Someone else to make them laugh.
And stay happy.
While they determine the doing,
Meets their approval and expectations.
As they sit to scrutinize,
What is done to make them smile.
Yet...
When the wind begins,
To diminish and end their pretensions?
Off that floating boat they go.
In the hope to find someone else,
Willing to be...
Their personal clown,
Comedian and lover.
While they sit anticipating to be served,
Without earning to give back...
What they did not earn to deserve,
In the first place.

Happiness to have it,
Has to be felt.
To know the earning of it,
Takes more than to demand.
And if unrecognized for what it is?
Tears to cry?
Are personalized.
No matter who tries,
Blaming this on someone else.

'I did the best I could,
To make them happy.
And nothing I did was appreciated.'

'Gee.
Maybe your selfishness got in the way!'

'My selfishness?
What are you saying?'

'Perhaps you sought your expectations,
To be approved.
And not from a happiness,
Did you do what you did to do.
But sit to scrutinize their reactions!'

'That makes to me no sense at all.'

'I had to learn to be selfish,
With my happiness.
Once I felt happy,
To know what I had to have earned it?
It was still there to know it mine.
Regardless who did not acknowledge...
How I got it to have earned.'

'I don't understand.'

'Have you heard people say,
A mind to have...
Is a terrible thing to waste?'

'Yes.'

'Well...
I am not one to debate that.
But this I do know...
Once one has a peace of mind?
Easy it isn't,
To have it taken away.'

'So,
You are saying...
What?'

'Get up off your butt.
And stop seeking approval.
For everything you do.
When you begin to experience,
Rowing your own boat.
Keep focused on your destination.
Stop believing everyone,
Should appreciated...
Going to the same place.

For example...
Like your pitiful unhappy tears to cry?
I can empathize with you.
But our destinations?
Are quite different!'
