If Only

Lawrence S. Pertillar 1947 (Connecticut)

If only,
Thinking people...
Still conscious of the importance,
Of what common sense is...
To begin to use.
Done with a stopping to accuse others.
Of what they do.
This will start,
Self examination to evaluate.
Who amongst us awaits to depend,
On those who neither...
Have a hint nor a clue,
From one moment to the next.
As to what anyone should do.
To correct a mess.
We all volunteered to follow and accept,
Someone else knew better...
Than the rest of us.
Unable to listen with attention given.
With mouths closed and ears to open.
Done with eyes wide to realize,
The truth of facts and evidence of reality...
Seen for what it is.
Are not produced purposely,
To keep fiction deluded as a way of life.
Meant to intentionally deceive,
The selling of lies to debate...
Whose lieing eyes,
Are better to rely upon.
To deliver the best quality of life to live!

If only we had common sense.
To connect with our minds to use?
This to do would make all the difference.
Then pretending to imitate,
A progress to make,
Together as a people.
Than passing judgements,
On false appearances made.
No one appreciates because of image.
And why is this some may insist?

'Your image to give it,
Is neither perfect or faked.'

'Excuse me.
But...
Your explanation is flawed.
And makes no sense at all!'

'Tell me...
When did image,
Pretentiously to give it.
Made any sense to imitate perfection?
And...
Who is it qualified to define perfection?'

'Good question.
Now...
If only we all came to realize that fact!'

'To do what?
The stopping to impress.
And address the truth and reality?
For what that is to mean these days?
That would devastate the economy!
People are made to stay blind.'

'What a crime committed,
Against humanity.'

'No.
Your vision is fogged.
Patriotism kept to market it?
Takes a pledging allegiance faithfully,
To the health of the almighty dollar bill!
And trust me.
There are no 'If Onlys, Ands or Buts!
It's the economy.
The only reality Capitalism has.'
