Stereotypes

Makyah Hughes 2002 (Tuscaloosa)

She's not going to be able to do it.
She's a failure.
She's not going to say nothing so you can scream and be mean to her.

She doesn't know anything so let's play her.
What? She's not going to college?! Silly her.
You quit your Job?you messed yourself up.
She could've stayed in the military, she was just weak.

What is she going to do now? She got a medical discharge, she is not in college, and she quit her Job. Maaaann she's a failure for real…

But one thing that they see they don't know behind closed doors, she's saving money, trying to maintain her mental health, she has other goals that she has set for her good to succeed. What people think about her is not beneficial to her. Because what benefits her is her goals and her dreams.

About this poem

Basically about a girl who deals with a lot of stereotypes and negative inputs. And sooner she's on top.
