DOGLETY

Ray Eden 1959 (Hackney)

DOGLETY

My dogs are all so doglety
They're scruffy to the max
They love to snaffle bits and bobs
Between their doggy snacks

They've got a thing for Rabbit's poo
And dead birds on the path
They're saucy, naughty, even haughty
But they make me laugh

When it's bin collection day
They'll pee up every bin
And when we're out at 2 O'Clock
They'll pee up them again

They're great at making other dogs
All bark as we go round
We start a doggy chorus
And it's such a lovely sound

There's Jasper, Teddy, Freya, Boo
And they all say “Hello”
So everybody knows us now
No matter where we go

And all the cats are well aware
Of dogs on cat alert
They'll often try to slink on by
So nobody gets hurt

And all the people that we know
Have one dog, two dogs, more
There are even other nutters here
Who just like us, have four

In Seasalter they'll assault ya
With howls and whines and yaps
But I love 'em, every one
As I'm that kind of chap.

About this poem

I wrote it, and I admit to having four dogs. There are a lot of dogs down our Road, and some of them are named in this piece.
