Morning Glories

Eileen Clark 1993 (Htfd. Ct.)

Morning glories are the easiest flowers to grow

Sometimes they show up when you didn’t even sow

Men never take notice when the yard they mow

Cutting off all of them and they didn’t even know

They ask you for nothing needing very little care

Every morning you can count on them being there

On your fence, lattice work or crawling up your stare

Looking like a trumpet sounding off a purple blair

Smile on your face be it coffee or some credit they will share

Up this fine morning before you brushed your teeth and hair

Giving off bright colors some purple and some light blue

Sit and enjoy them for they will close up right in front of you

I think I’ll build myself a long white picket fence

Plant  purple morning glories, well worth the expense

I will be the envy throughout the neighborhood

Seeing them every morning will  make me feel good

Eileen Clark

When I was little I was always rhyming things in my head as a child but never wrote things down. I have a slight learning disability, did poorly in school, and quit the day I turned sixteen. That should explain my poor spelling folks! For many years I kept busy as most do with taking care of home and family and friends and pets and working, and so on. I did keep up with my painting and they made nice gifts to give out to friends for every occasion. Now I'm old and crippled with rheumatoid arthritis and somewhat housebound, hence the Blogs and websites to keep myself busy and I began to write poems. My poems are not sophisticated or brilliant, just simple writings filled with memories of my childhood, my imagination, my experiences in life, and my plight with arthritis. I love my poems and don't mind saying so. I hope to post some of my short stories when I get brave enough. Eileen Clark more…
