Run Aground

It’s not the first time this ship has run aground
But I suppose it’s the last
The hull badly damaged
Catastrophic injury to the port side
Wherein the engine lies behind the rib cage
And this weary vessel has given out
Stranded in this vast ocean
A shipping lane, for sure
Yet my SOS calls remain invisible
To all those passing by
Some freight, some passenger
Each to their own
And with the champagne still fresh
Running down between the rivets
Each drop a tear of joy
But now of despair
Turned to that of salt water
Not from the sea
And the lines of communication
Became scrambled long before the wreck
Appeared
