lemon demon on skis

you're yellow sour sweet. sunlight on
snow piled steep blinds my eyes slightly
that one time i went skiing when i was fourteen
now i need glasses i don't wear.
i didn't like the yellow goggles. i didn't wear them
because i'd look stupid.
so no yellow goggles.
i can't ski but i'd be dead before i ask for help
so my legs are bruised yellow,
yellow goggles pushed up (do i look stupid?) and
my eyes are red.
now i have glasses i don't use
because i'd look stupid,
sour lemon demon tells me so.

About this poem

i was sad in my room dec. 2021 thinking about the stifling self sabotage and harming that comes with social anxiety, and that one time and went skiing and damaged my eye sight because i was so scared of looking dumb wearing the goggles and i didnt know how to ski lmao, lemon demon is that sour sick feeling of anxiety that still kind of feels like its protecting me
