Gridlock'd

Bryan McLarry 1994 (Hartlepool)

Life is a traffic jam,

Waiting to cross the roads at this crossroads like hurry up man,

Don't cross me on this road or interfere with my plans,

100 percent we're all striving for thousands and gargantous green grams,

Stuck in a poverty trap, trapped at a red light,

Trying to get mellow like yellow come the nearing night,

I'm trying to make my words known because green means go,

But f*ck riches and fame, that's all a sellout show.

I'll find a little comfort in being able to put food on the table,

I just want to be comfortable and find some comfort if I'm able,

While remaining underground, in the industry creative freedom becomes a fable,

You'll bow down to the suits on these major labels.

Name, rank, serial number,

Name, rank, serial number,

No mathematics but these class divisions are a blunder,

Working all day, start, middle to end,

They're in the upper echelons, we're wasting away trying to ascend,

On a tireless roundabout, contradictively going around the bend.

Going from place to place,

Chasing the queen's head in a rat race,

While I'm coining words onto paper,

I'm in my pad, lacking sleep, maybe I'll worry about it later,

Take note of what I just said,

I've got more words than Microsoft, more talks than Ted,

Haters can get pounded, while they're counting their pennies,

Got burning desire in my heart, I better remember the Rennies.

It'd be great to live off grid but instead I'm feeling locked down,

Trying to mask my anger while resisting the urge to jab to these clowns,

Like a vicious rottweiler, feeling predatory,

Trying to predate time, saying f*ck Tories and their mindless stories,

I'm no fan of Thatchers, I'm more of an ale guy,

Boris can bore off, like Kendrick don't blow my high.

Trying to get over it all, while you're awaiting your next dose,

Don't overdose on misconceptions, live life and make a toast,

Despite having little dough, don't miss any conceptions,

Give birth to terrific thinking, strategising with powerful perceptions,

This is my basic instinct, creative charisma is what I need,

Get stoned like Sharon, construct cracking cryptic craft and take a toke on the weed.
