The Devious dream

Uma Maheshwari 1993 (Secunderabad)

O dream, give me the power to awaken,

As l stand amid the roar

Of a surf tormented shore.

Pining to hold your hand,

So far away, away in this mysterious and eerie land

O dream, give me the power to awaken.

As the lights of aurora hit your beautiful and prepossing face,

those hazel eyes, into which I want to fervently gaze

So far away, away in this mystifying and unearthly place.

As I gaze into such alluring and Orphic brown eyes,

there is an unanticipated cavernous passion in me that arises

O dream, give me the power to awaken and make it happen.

As my grieving heart capitulates to the gaze,

The mind plays a series of devious stratagems, as I dream again with amaze

So far away, away in this mysterious and unreal place.

Oh, no, make this dream depart,

my heart shall take no more, don't prise it apart

O dream, give me the power to awaken.

As much as I enjoy this feeling of pain,

there is a presentiment that it'll give me no gain,

So far away in this unearthly and out worldly place

I shall always wait for your absolute and palpable embrace.
