Authority Given

Lawrence S. Pertillar 1947 (Connecticut)

There are many who receive,
Titles to get to sit...
In positions of power.
Temporarily to then believe,
They can determine to do as they please.
Regardless of others affected,
By decisions they make...
That leaves what is done,
Only themselves to be seen...
Capable of achieving,
Attention to accomplish it successfully.

And...
It does not to them matter at all,
Who it us they take with them...
Down to eventually fall.
Surrounded by the crumbling of walls.
Since the only thing left,
They want others to believe...
Was a power to grab and have it done,
Just to prove to everyone...
A suffering to grieve,
Gain for them a feeling of victory!

'Do you realize,
How many were negatively affected...
By your thoughtless and unwise,
Decision made?'

'I know.
But...
What other choice did I have?
I wanted my name,
Cemented to be remembered...
From now until,
History continues to be documented.'

'No matter if it leaves,
A permanent stain on your credibility?'

'Tell me this...
How many books are written?
Or movies made?
About those handing out,
Chocolate chip cookies to the poor...
Or those suffering from disparities?
Would you buy into such B.S. like that?'

'But...
What has that got to do,
With humanity and the quality of life?'

'Exactly.
And that's my point.
I'm in it to win infamy!
And that opportunity,
Only a few aspire to achieve.
What do you take me for?
A fool?'

'You were elected to represent,
The needs if the people!'

'And what am I?
Chopped liver, stewed hamhocks?
Pork ribs or neckbones?
Although I will admit,
Being a people person myself...
I can not resist,
An addiction I have...
To Southern Fried Chicken!'
