Happy 2021

2020, What a year it's been !
Not one that we could ever have foreseen,
A dodgy market in Wuhan , we were told,
And very quickly a Pandemic took hold,
No warning ,no mercy , this Covid beast,
Intent on pursuing its Worldwide feast,
Every Nations people have felt the pain,
Will normal life ever return again?,
So many heroes stepped up to the plate,
Unconcerned for their personal fate,
Medics, shop workers and transport folks,
Teachers ,care workers and delivery blokes,
All of you a family member,a neighbour, a friend,
To you all our eternal thanks we send,
Lockdowns,bubbles,isolation and Tiers,
R Numbers,ventilators, so many fears,
But very quickly we learnt to adjust,
Hoarding loo rolls the first big must!
No hugging, no kissing or sneaking next door,
No mask on in Tesco is breaking the law!
But out from the gloom came quite a shock,
We all turned back the material clock,
Simple things again being embraced,
Sharing and caring, life not at great haste!
Time in the garden,a stroll down the lane,
Chat with a neighbour, gotta keep sane,
Learning to live with a little bit less,
Remembering to clap the great NHS,
Now there's a vaccine the end is in sight,
For a little time more lets do what's right,
Check on your neighbours, hold loved ones tight,
Ring someone lonely and make their night,
Keep caring and thinking of others first,
And pray soon we'll all be over the worst,
Let's raise a glass and share a virtual hug,
To a New Year full of hope and love
