The Quill (prequel)

Lonely winters chill set burden upon damp air.
Yearning ink driven temptations, of despair.
Reading illusions, sent upon whispering trees.
Ink driven tears bring me down to broken knees.
Kinetically drawn down grasping hands of pine,
Striking a muddy tomb, revealing just one line.
~~
The blood stained cover, 'twas of flesh and bone.
Black vain woven spine puncturing vile tomb.
Most would stray from such a dark book.
I just need to take a single quick look......
Carved in flesh score signs fading in and out.
Prying open, blood dripping; as I shout.
Halted by lock with a hole, finger size, but a trap before this my final prize.

~~~~
"Hey friend would you like a ring"
"A gift that shall make your heart sing" ~~~ "Close your eyes;
and stick your finger out,
I got a surprise!
One that'll make ya shout!" ~~
~~
~~
In a flash I stand alone with this book!
Not a witness in site as I did look.
Lock Still bound, dripping black blood in my hand. Must try more, just need yet another plan.
Twisted is my fate; Bound to this dark page..
 Locked out of my heart~a broken.. Lost age~ ~~ Years have Fallen to days in weeks past...
The book has spoken to me at last!
Pages so vast; Fall upon my every thought.
 So many souls these pages have caught.
 With each soul the lock loosen more and more, until this night when the lock finally fell to the floor...
 ~~
Twisting turning, Spine burning.
 Pulling cover from cover. Pooling blood;
 Cold as its onyx color. A silent, crack then another. Lightning strikes as the book slams shut!
 Lashing down I feel my leg pulsing from a cut.
 Forcing me down unto the tainted ground.
Utter silence nullified all sound...
Ice cold rain starts to pour;
As my vision starts to restore.
 ~ Pages fold as if made of skin..
Revealing a hidden ink bound grin..
 Suddenly I feel at home.
Finally I'm not..
 alone.
Jason Taylor
A broken poet with countless pages, soon to fade away never to be remembered. Disasters take every material possession I own time and time again. All I have is my poetry and when I die so does my ink.. more…
