introvert burden

Emma Jaquin 2006 (north carolina)

Take up the introvert burden
Where crowds of people make you tired
And being alone somehow has you wired.
Seeing all the faces drains you out
And in order to be heard you have to shout

Take up the introvert burden
When hearing your name in public makes your palms sweat
And seeing someone you know makes you wanna jet
You have a short social battery
And people try to cheer you up with flattery

Take up the introvert burden
When your with your friends and find no place to talk
And up in your head your really just taking a walk
Your staring into space while everyone mingles
When your sitting alone in a corner happy with your can of pringles

Take up the introvert burden
When your in your own world
and  someone says your name then you think your gonna hurl
When you try to escape the conversation
When there are only cement walls
From then on everything around you seems to fall

Take up the introvert burden
As your trying to remain calm
When you start panicking like you knew you would all along
As people are talking
When you wanna go home
Climb into bed and wish them all gone

Take up the introvert burden
When even family gatherings make you weary
Everything around you makes you dreary
And only when everyone leaves
Thats when your life feel like a breeze
