Wanted To Wish

Lawrence S. Pertillar 1947 (Connecticut)

What it is I keep wanted to wish,
Has nothing to do...
With the festivities of Christmas.
Or the time of the year.
When people seem to appear,
Released from kept petty nonsense.
And free to express,
The joy it is...
To feel blessed and celebrate,
Humanity.
With their cheers and merriment.

What it is I keep wanted to wish most.
Every day of each year.
Is a need to make real,
My need to be a better human being.
With this to be conscious of it.
Done to leave behind,
Ways to find...
Reasons to attempt to validate,
Complaints and decisions to make...
To blame others.
For mistakes I have made.
With a creating to condone my own,
Excuses why...
I seem happier,
When others too...
Seek everyday, and every month,
To say something negative!

Oh...
How I wish to let go of this,
Deep and undenied...
Feeling of satisfaction.

And I keep wanting to wish,
What I hear from people like this...
A walking away to ignore.
My own participation.
To more adventure and explore.

But then...
I have to admit to myself,
That a remaining happy...
With no complaints at all to share,
Is a lonely existence.
For someone thought to be crazed.
If everyday of each week,
And throughout each year...
I am made to feel guilty.
Just because I have found it easier,
To live my life...
On the positive side of it to live.

'Come on.
Show a moody contemptuous attitude,
Attitude towards.
There is no one that lives,
To be that happy.
Where is your misery and anguish?
Grief, sorrow and pain?'

'Well...
I use to feel that way.
To feel more each day,
I betrayed myself.
Until I woke up to realize,
Why should I keep lieing?
Just for approval and acceptance?'

'But...
Aren't you afraid,
Of being regarded...
An unpatriotic nonconformist?'

'These days?
Being thought to be abnormal.
Weird and freaky?
Is a compliment so appealing to me.
I can not live to deny and refuse...
The obvious!'

'That B.S. is sick!'

'Tell me...
Is that bad or good 'sick' B.S?
I hope it's good.
Since I am wanting it to wish,
It begins to set a new trend.'

'Yep.
It is clear to me,
You have lost your mind.'

'Thank you.
That kind of flattery has made my day.'

'What?'

'You have no idea,
Just how blessed you have made me feel!
Fools rush in where angels fear to tread!'

'Uh...huh?
What?'

'There would be no mountains to climb,
If not for molehills...
To discover them to be,
Just an annoyance, a nuisance.
Obstacles.
Shown for what they are to be removed.'

'Yep.
Somebody...
Had to have hit you,
In the head with a rock!'

'Making happier,
My made to live them as conscious days!'
