Intentions

shyanna white 1999 (new bern)

Taming your intentions is an unusual phrase
but if more would do it, there would be less gloomy days
Some are so self-centered their minds are splintered.
Burning bridges left and right
just to take a bite, A portion of what you have
and leave you with nothing except future red flags
I hate the way he treats me
But I love he never leaves me
When did that become enough to keep me?
I want to be loved
I deserve real hugs
not those publicly given just to get others attention
Things aren't always what they seem
A radiant face that beams quickly turns to tears
all it takes is a few beers, then I'm living with a monster
The monster's not under my bed, he's in my bed
He's caught me every time I've fled
I can't go back, I won't go back, I've grown up since then
now I know monsters are just pretend
I'm not scared anymore, he can no longer hurt me
A man came along that truly deserves me,
he gives me A love I've never been given
True love with pure intentions
