The Original Author
The Original Author
Author: Mark V. Markov
If an author of a poem
Writes it in one language
And someone else translates it
Into anoher language
That other person who translated it
Is not the author of the poem
But just a translator
If that person claims to be an author
Than that person is a thief and a liar
Because without the original poem
Written by the author
There would not be any translation
By the other translator
Of a different language
So if someone is so misguided enough
To think that just because he or she took
A poem from someone else
From someone who wrote the poem
And translated it into another language
That they are the author of that poem?
That person is totally mistaken!
And he or she is a thief and a liar.
Yet if they state that they are a translator
Of a poem which originally was written
By the original author
Than that is understandable
But if the same original author
Who wrote the original poem
In one language
And than translated it
Into another language
Than that original author
Is the author
Of that poem in that language also
And any other language
He or she translated it into
Since that person originally wrote the poem
In the first place.
Since he or she originally
Wrote the poem in the first language
And if he or she is able
To translate it into another
He or she is still the author
Of that poem.
So if you are a translator
Of a poem
Please tell others
That you are
A translator
And not the author.
Because obviously
If the original poem
Was never written by the original author
There would never be
A translation of it available in another language
By a translator of a different language
Those who take from others
And translate it
If they say that they wrote it
They are thiefs and liars.
They are not the author,
They are a translator.
Because obviously
If the original poem
Was never written by the original author
There would never be
A translation of it available in another language
By a translator of another language...
