These Swollen Voices

Ben Sedgwick 2007 (United Kingdom)

These swollen voices hollow around me,
Pressure builds momentarily,
Every second every time every check every crime,
All I must deny; yet my look paints my hands red,
Lawfulness salutes as drones pass a glaire of disgust,
The sheep will follow every word with action to put one down,
It’s a tragedy; to I and to all,
Follow the leader discreetly before you all fall down too.

These swollen voices continue to flourish,
Dance monkey dance they yell; they want you guilty,
The flock calls culprit by siren,
 no verdict needed,
The courthouse is plastic; you’ve been sentenced three times,
Guilty upon enter,
Innocent upon verdict,
Guilty by masses.

These swollen voices select what you see,
The man with buckled shoes decided your fate; he owned the paper,
The followers expand,
Torches ignite and shine,
Sheep follow shepherds; in search of the blacksmith,
They need a monster to complete the tale,
That monster is you,
You must raise a white flag to a crooked myth,
Refusal is not an option,
Admit or get bit,
By these swollen voices.

About this poem

I was targeted with lies, isolated from society for a month directly from the spawn of modern culture.
