Skipped

Erick Arvizu 1980 (Williamsburg, VA)

A friend called me out
She said I obviously liked you
I couldn’t say the truth
What the sight of you would do

My heart would skip
Like we did that time
Arms linked together
Wishing you were mine

You like to say
That you know me so well
If that were so true
Did you know that I fell?

So many obstacles
Pains to go through
Just to get to a place
Where I could tell you

That you are the best
The smile in my day
The one that I love
So don’t go away

When our eyes meet
All I’ve hidden is seen
There’s no way you don’t know
The most definitive gleam

You’re my best friend
And I love you beyond words
Perhaps someday I’ll tell you
But I’m sure you’ve already heard
