She Was Told

Smooth hands slowly run down her body,
Lips touch hers,
Smooth hands go in the pants and under the shirt,
She second guesses the intentions of the other,
Index finger on her lips with a shh sound,
I love you are the words said to her;

Why me? she says as tears roll down her face.
Wasn’t the love real? She was told it was
She was told she was beautiful inside and out
She was told she was kind
She was told she was perfect.

Lies, society lies.
No one sees women as beautiful on the inside
No one sees women as kind or perfect,
People only care about the outside, the looks.
Society lies to themselves by saying otherwise,
Society judges by looks before knowing a person.

She was told she was loved for her personality
In reality, she was only loved for her body.
