Master Of The Table

Deborah LeeBown 1963 (New Orleans)

I am the master of the table
My game is cunning, swift, and sure
Shots long, or short are stable
My confidence will endure

I carefully select my stick
All sanded and smooth to the tip
And guarantee there is a trick
In picking the weight and the grip

Once it's chalked down
And ready to go
I break with precision and ease
And look, hope, and already know
The eight ball will fall in like a breeze

Here's the thereafter I'm waiting for
I kick back and watch as I drink
All the guy's mouths drop to the floor
And I just give them a wink.
