Skateboarding in the Rain

Some people skate to escape a chaotic home.
To exercise their body and let their mind roam.

Skateboarding is always there ready to be a friend.
Until the rain starts falling and all the excitement may seem to end.

But is it all over, and is it time to turn in?
Or has the real journey just started to begin….

Damp, cold and dark, I move as my wheels roll on the floor.
Wind blowing, leaves falling, raining, as I go out and explore.

All alone, it’s just me, everyone runs and hides from the rain.
Just some water that wet’s my clothes, I don’t seem to feel the pain.

Skating on, aimlessly, enjoying the wind and rain on my face.
Tranquil, bliss, at peace, an experience nothing can replace.

Cloudy, dark, silent, and I’m starting to like it better.
I skate, and I skate, as I look all around, and my clothes keep getting wetter.

The wind roars as the rain falls and whips it all around.
While I skate, I look up, as branches and leaves fall to the ground.

Feet wet, shoes soaked, in my sock I feel my toes swimming in an ocean.
Through a puddle, making waves as my wheels stay in motion.

Bucket hat on my head, it blocks the rain from my eyes.
I’m in a shower, of falling water, that rains down from the skies.

Aimlessly skating at this point, but I do have somewhere to be.
Skating towards the eye of the storm and all that it can see.

Through the chaos of any storm, at the center there will be peace.
All the pain to be suffered, I must take it and then release.

I roll and roll, and I roll on my way.
Eventually the showers will stop, and today may be the day.

Most people hide from the rain, and the pain that it brings.
Few people go out into the rain, and try to spread their wings.

Looking for something, I am on a quest.
Eventually the rain will stop and then I can rest.

Until then I keep moving, always with a smile on my face.
Because I know, at the end of it all, I’ll be in a better place.
