Family Man

Elsie Japal Thomas 1989 (St George)

                                               Family Man

His hands are made of steel,
He works hard just to provide a meal,
No rest, only stress as the due date approaches,
to pay his bills,

With little mouths to feed, he dares not complain,
Sun and rain, he labors, but not in vain,
I look at him, a man who was once so strong and sturdy,
But now who can tell his age,
For he's so grey and he's bearly in his thirties,

Different jobs working day and night,
No time for himself,
Late to bed, early to rise,
But he does it with love and does not give up,
For he knows one day things will get better,
He doesn't say much but you know he cares,
Love is an action word and he shows it everyday.

I'm from Grenada, my heart's desire is to become an actress, it always has been, at the age of five. Because of my location and no funds, it seems impossible. But I am determined to be there. Writing is another way to be seen and also an opportunity to get extra cash to turn those dreams into reality. more…
