Nature and Its Light

Ethan Tsoi 2009 (Hong Kong)

In nature the sun shines with a light,
The entire hill gets filled with bright light.
The animals start hunting for their food,
In a happy and playful mood.

In Mexico night is for hunting,
For in day it is burning.
Different animals hunt in their own way,
Some in the Skies and some by the bay,

They hunt wildly, for a large meal,
But they get ambushed, and some can’t heal.
 But they try their best,
Even with the idiot pest.

They are strong and fearless,
Though, sometimes, they have weaknesses.
But the animals are slowly disappearing,
Because of the human’s hunting,

Bam!

It’s true that no animal forgets,
The animals run, afraid of being the target,
It’s true that no animal forgets,
Of the tragedy that happens if you’re the target.

The animals run as they see the gun,
The hunters in ponytail, hunters in a bun,
Women and men, all dangerous.
Although the cat family were adventurous,
They weren’t able to escape the hunters.

By the sea the tide gently drifted in,
Reaching the boy called Jin.
The water softly blowing smells of salt,
The kids in the sand enjoying some malt.
The fish, the sharks, the jellyfish,
Flying around, jumping around, Swish!

The poor defenceless fish get caught in a net,
Knowing they’ll be food or a pet.
Knowing the consequences of the cruel world.
The wind softly blowing a breeze,
Soon in time water will freeze,

The leaves gently drifting down,
The wind blowing it to New York Town.
Humans, treating the animals like garbage,
They’re delicious food, unlike cabbage.
But they have lives, just like us,
Don’t forget they’re not wuss.

People should be treating them like friends,
Not killing them till the end.
For animals have lives too,
Not just some idiots, they’re your crew!
Animals are living things,
Some are queens, some are kings.
And they should be treated equally,
For their living beings, not your target.
