In It If It Benefits

Lawrence S. Pertillar 1947 (Connecticut)

Truth has always been what it is.
To be manipulated, deceived or denied.
Yet those who attempt and try to change,
What truth is and meant to be...
For the purpose to undo too late to fit,
Within minds to exclude reality.
Their nuts and bolts become unscrewed.
Believing themselves losing,
Minds they could have used but did not...
Associate,
Delusion with fiction.
Or lies told to realize,
A having of common sense...
Most would regard as part of living life.
And not a hobby to brag about having.
Just to have others perceive,
What comes naturally for them...
Could possibly be an hypnotic trance.
Or an illusion of some kind.
Since there are those who actually live,
A life not to feel blessed about it at all.
But 'in' it to live if it benefits,
An impression to make!
And acceptance achieved to receive.

'Yes...I see.
Now,
What about you?
Who are you?
Your likes and dislikes and pet peeves?'

'Seriously?'

'Yes.
I would like to know who you are!'

'Why?'

'Because I like you.'

'To do what?'

'Be you. Yourself!'

'And...
How do I do that?
What will I get in return?'
