Who Am I anyhow? Who are we anyhow?

If found I am not what
I said I am
Shining example of goodness
Under whose thin skin
Lurks envy, deception
A righteous risk, deal dangerous

Consumptive, self-involved
"You say I am honest?"
Innocently peer at my neighbor's cards
Intuitively steal looks at all the pretty gals
Who among us is so honest
To pray forgiveness the next day?

Are all many-sided, complicated creatures
All with great ego
A mystic shadow of temptation, ambivalence
In an instant the mind turns
One hundred and eighty degrees
Opinions modified, strong outbursts rationalized
My way most, yours - a bit here and there Anxious protect our own
No, but spirited, overwhelmed
With mischievous passion to subdue the maiden

I am not what I said I am
Sometimes I am not myself
Devout, intense, pray to my deity
My competitiveness makes for action
Forcefully winning, succeeding
My meditation brings some balance and reason
One thing is for sure
I do not want to be a slave to
Anyone
