Dear S

Adi Behar 2009 (Bogota)

my dearest friend, my darling, my light

your poor eyes of wonder have turned to fright

your soul is heavy, made of bricks and glass

your eyes are empty; they're sunken and collapsed

you've turned from a sugars molasses to a coffees cold bitter taste

you're miserable, it makes me want to suffocate

When I think of the past's rich memories, of its child like wonder, my body aches.

you're words were sonnets written by angels, you're voice sounded of delicate harmonies

how you've strayed so far from your soul of honey

you carried your body with grace, you were light as a feather!

but now you've changed, how i wish it could have been better.

because you're words are burnt out and cracked, like the ashes from a cigar

your voice is that of an untuned guitar

how you were so beautiful, you caught onto each of my little tunes

now you won't dare to hum a sound- like it would give you a wound

you're my unfinished symphony.
