Miscommunication
Keith Lankford 1964 (AL)
Three rounds and I didn’t feel any stronger
Guess I better sit here a little longer
She had said that he did not want her
It seems now he might not have been so sure
He was a big bad ugly looking son of a bitch
Long time ago I grew tired of this kind of shit
That woman of his she wasn’t worth this
Until on my head she decided to plant a kiss
Now, I’m not french if that’s the language she spoke
Her long brown hair I grabbed and I pulled her close
On her words she soon began to choke
As she looked into my eyes with a love yet un-spoke
He came around not long after we met
I was sitting with her smoking a cigarette
She went with him I returned to where I set
Tap on my shoulder he said I’m not through with you yet
I didn’t really have to him to much to say
Three more rounds and a bar tab I to pay
Try and try and try as I may
He didn’t understand, she was not there to translate
I guess the shots might have gone to my head
He must have misunderstood just what I said
Outside he was waiting, he said I was dead
I decided to stay right right where I had set
Three more rounds I didn’t feel any stronger
Guess I better sit here a little longer
She had said that he did not want her
It seems now he might not have been so sure
