Ancient Rage

The beat of the music
Drummed heavily in the night
Filled with ancient rage
He danced by firelight
His love had left
To the realm of the dead
Semi-devine
He wept beside her they said
He had journeyed
For twelve long double-hours
To the Garden of the gods
To gather the flowers
Costumed in trumpery
He laid her to rest
Then laid beside her
In his final quest
He ate the flower
The flower of death
