My Heart Longs

Tika Hales 1973 (Ft Lauderdale, Florida)

My Heart Longs

Today my heart suffers from being away from yours for many days.
Though my mind knows I will see you soon my heart weeps in your absence.
I can feel myself missing you in every muscle of my body.
When you write me i am anxious for every word that i read.
Your company brings joy to my soul, but the time always feels so short.
When you leave it feels like you are being ripped away from me.
When you are with me it feels like we are one soul.
Like planting in fertile soil my passion for you grows in your absence.
With such little time invested how can i be so desperate for you?
You are like a fresh coastal breeze after a long walk in the desert.
Like a summer rain falling gently after a hot day laboring in the sun.
Your gentle kindness has breathed life back into my broken body.
Your understanding has opened my eyes to the good in me.
You have opened my heart like a rose bud that before refused to bloom.
When you hold me i feel wrapped in a soft blanket on a cool winter morning.
Your kisses light a fire in me like coal propelling an old train.
Feeling my body against yours makes me feel love and comfort.
Your smiles and laughter make me feel like a kid again, carefree and happy.
So my heart suffers today in its longing to be near yours.
My mind knows it will see you soon but it can not convince my heart not to weep.
My muscles will not stop aching as my heart sends them the message that it misses you.
My passion will not stop growing as you have already planted the seed.
I will stand out in that desert waiting to feel your cool coastal breeze.
Until again my coals are lit with your igniting passion.
Until again I am wrapped in the blanket of your kindness.
What once felt ripped away, is again joined and mended.
And our souls can sing our song that resounds in perfect harmony.
