Clouds

Emilia Acabeo 1949 (Puerto Rico)

Shadowed moon dented with craters dark
Stands solitary against gray skies
Guarding
Puffs of clouds stretch across
It's bottom like a skirt
Dangling askew
Tall thin black bare trees
Branching
Reaching  life fingers
Waiting to touch
As they
Stride along the horizon
Exhalations of smoke
Short explosive breaths
Propelling
Restless winged creatures to flight

About this poem

I spent a lot of time indoors during the pandemic and spent a lot of time looking out the window.
