The Damaged Teddy Bear

In a toy shop high on a shelf
I sat as days went by
Watching all my friends be bought
As Christmas Eve drew nigh

A damaged Teddy Bear was I
Just waiting to be sold
Though no one came to look at me
As I sat alone and cold

But as tiny tears fell from my eyes
A fairy floated by
And as she waived her pretty wand
She said please don’t cry

Santa Claus has sent me to find
A special Teddy Bear
For a little girl who asked for one
In her bedtime prayer

So on Christmas Eve tied with a bow
Santa laid me by her side
And when she awoke and looked at me
Tears of joy she cried

With her little arms around me
If filled her heart with joy
For I had so much love to give
Though just a broken toy

About this poem

The magic of Christmas is all about Santa and this poem depicts how the innocence of children has no boundaries when it comes to soft toys.
