Searching
I'm tired.
Tired of the talk and gazes that never leave from my alleged peers and other people surrounding me. IM TIRED.
The adulteres, the wife beaters and tax cheaters are those who judge me for being gay and blowing trees
Yet it is not me judging them, it's just the truth that I speak when I say that we are all flawed. In some shape, way, or form, we are all lost.
But see, I've been on a journey of self discovery.
I'm so called trying to find myself, but the thing is I never really lost myself. I was born lost.
I was born a sinner and I was born starved. And for 23 years I sat at the wrong table and sipped from the wrong cup
Still hungry and thirsty for knowledge unattained.
Still scared, running searching for the truth in vain.
But I'm so close to finding it, I can taste it.
Haile Selassie taught me that the greatest gift in life was patience.
So before I light my incense I pray to Jah everyday for guidance so that I may accept my greatness.
And as I inhale my herb, the gazes go unnoticed and the talk becomes unheard.
Alone in my thoughts, I recognize the truth in solitude.
See life will throw you hardships and bullshit but it's all about your attitude.
So love without boundaries and live without fear
And above all else, stay positive.
About this poem
I was 23 years old still trying to find who I was in this world. I was frustrated from the judgements about my character based on my appearance. I sat down to write a journal entry and ink poured from pen. I am very proud of this poem as an artist because it was the first piece I performed to a crowd. This poem is very special to me and it is my hope that no one is offended. Thank you
