Strangers

Strangers
Yes we were strangers
The night we met
By the village well
It was a sight to behold
The moon lit up the evening
The stars watched us
But we were the only ones out that evening
Maybe fate wanted us together ,I guess so
You carried the earthen pot on your head
But that's not what took my attention
Your eyes shone so bright
Like a new born calf
Your hair flew effortlessly in the wind
Like the grass in the Savannah
Your skin so light
Just like the bonfire
Your hips
They swayed graciously as you walked
Your body
It shook with every step you took
My fragile heart melted
When you opened your mouth to speak
It was like a voice of the celestial beings
The educated call them angels
Those walls we built
They crumbled to dust
Nothing could keep us apart
They others they called it love
But I and you couldn't explain it
Soon days went by
And years came by
We promised we would be here for eachother
In the sun and in the rain
In the light in the dark
But alas!! it was too good to be true
Our days in the sun
They brewed jealous in the hearts of the onlookers
I too was happy
But it didn't last long
When the rains came
You left me
To go and be with the Lord
That's what they say
 The darkness crept in
But you were no more to save my mortal soul
Now in the grave you lay
In your peaceful sleep
And now I run the tribulations
Of this world alone
Sometimes I sit and wonder
Why did the lord take you to be with him
So soon
Yet he could have you for eternity
Now I don't know if I know you
Or we are just strangers
