Rare Is This Witnessed

It matters not how long,
A stalled understanding is reached...
Between decision makers.
To keep it understood,
They represent the people.
And not their personal egos to feed.

Although...
As difficult as this task may be,
There are limited minds confined...
With wishes to undermine,
The definition and meaning behind...
Common sense used.
And recognized when practiced.

'I don't get it.
Who is the winner here?
After a heated argument,
No fists have been thrown?
Where are the sticks and stones?
And blood shed from broken bones.
No name calling or faces to spit in?
What on Earth has happened,
To that old fashion American patriotism?'

People seem to realize,
It takes compromise.
And a willingness to listen.
With an intention to comprehend,
Has much more of a benefit.
Than a nose or jaw to break.
That ultimately proves what?

'A lesson to learn it!'

You know...
Thoughtlessness and hindsight to have it,
Does not erase ignorance observed.
To then expect forgiveness.
Maturity to have it takes self evaluation.
And rare these days is that witnessed.

'You are right about that.
Where these days is that witnessed?'

You misunderstood me.
I said, 'RARE' these days is that witnessed!

'I did not misunderstand at all.
Your 'rare' is not here.
There or anywhere else.
Is it?
Unless...
You meant to say,
NOT OFTEN.
Now...
That I would have said.
And you and I?
Would not have this disagreement!'

Why is it,
People find themselves debating...
Over what others do,
That does not involve them at all?

'Good question.
I often wonder why,
People who can't seem...
To mind their own business?
Dare to claim what to them is RARE.
Yet...
Common sense to have it,
Seems not theirs to have experienced.'

I know you're talking to me about me.

'And that attic isn't empty afterall!
Remember...
Who was minding their own business?
And who it was decided,
To test which one had common sense.'

Yep. You're right.
I guess if I had been talking about,
Noses, jaws and relationships broken...
I'd be a better patriot.

'I can not believe,
You took all this time...
Beating around the bush,
To finally agree with me!'

God?
I know.
I'm still working on keeping,
My mouth shut.

'And God?
I've done all I could,
To drop hints every now and then!
But...
I too am a work in progress.'

Amen to that!
