Les greniers

Sous le manteau des toits s'étalaient les greniers
Larges, profonds, avec de géantes lignées
De solives en croix, de poutres, de sommiers,
D'où pendaient à ses fils un peuple d'araignées.
Les récoltes en tas s'y trouvaient alignées :
Les froments par quintaux, les seigles par paniers,
Les orges, de clarté poussiéreuse baignées,
L'avoine et 1e colza par monceaux réguliers.
Un silence profond et lourd, tel une mare,
S'étendait sur les grains que coupait de sa barre
Et de ses lames d'or le soleil de Juillet.
Au reste les souris toutes se tenaient coites,
Les museaux enfoncés dans leurs niches étroites,
Tandis que sur un van le grand chat blanc veillait.
