Control

I'm all alone

Trapped in my own mind

Don't know how I got here but

I feel There's something I must find

Empty and silent

I won't be denied

Things locked away, kept secret

The threads begin to unwind

In a corner of my mind

There is a room painted white

within there is a mirror

But looking may be unwise

For inside the mirror

There’s a malevolent being

Able to alter

And shift how it’s seen

Although it seeks to break me

There is some truth to glean

Blink once if you can hear me

Blink twice to show that you can see

The things I want to leave behind

The things I just wish would die

All I see are broken things

Twisted whims and shattered dreams

soulless eyes

staring at what once was me

The things I hid from prying eyes

I know that now I must find

And I know now that its time

To reclaim what was once mine

Still haven’t found what I need

What’s buried deep beneath

All of the pain and deceit

About this poem

My (unmedicated) 8th-grade self decided to write this, so try not to cut yourself on this edge.
