Rain

To what do I owe
This gift from above?
Washing the world,
Streaming
Down my windowpane.

I look up and see
A thousand droplets
Upon your face.
Sliding
Down your check.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

For whom do you cry?
And please don’t say me.
The rain outside
Deafening
Continues to fall.

I’m sorry if I
Caused this flood.
I really tried
Albeit
Unsuccessfully.

It’s different now
I can no longer
Sit next to you.
Wiping
The tears from your eyes.

Its lonely up here.
It only falls,
The rain cascades down.
Gathering,
The clouds weep.

You would like the view,
But please don’t join me.
My choice was made
Sadly,
Solely by me.

I never quite knew
The difference between
Watching the rain come
And watching it leave.
