It’s a girl life

The first nine months
They go so fast,
I’ve finally arrived
It’s happened at last.

Now it’s time
To have some fun,
I’ll cry and cry
And wake up Mom.

Maybe if I cry
Some more,
Dad will come running
Like the night before.

Many nights
They’ve had of this,
It gets so bad
They take me in shifts.

Dad would come
And look at me,
Little miss innocence
He would see.

Mom would come
And she would smile,
She’s been so tired
For quite a while

The sleepless nights
I put them through,
They are my parents
That’s what I do

Soon I’ve teeth
And lots of hair,
I cause mayhem
Because I dare

Now the year
Is nearly done,
It’s my birthday
And I will soon be one.

Now I’m one
I’m all alone,
As I walk around the furniture
Or play with the phone.

Touching things
When they’ve said no,
So it’s jam and toast
In the video

My sticky fingers
On the wall,
All my dinner
Across the floor

I have pencils
So I can draw,
But chocolates my favourite
It sticks to the wall.

Looking around
What do I see?
A lot more mischief
That’s for me.

Another twelve months
Have nearly past,
They can not catch me
I run too fast.

Around the table
Climbing on chairs,
They try to keep me
Off the stairs

 They are living
A nightmare hell,
They have me under
A naughty spell

Now at two
They are too late,
They give me food
I really hate.

Green boogie sprouts
They put on my plate,
Swede and parsnips
I really do hate.

Now I’ve reached
The terrible two’s,
I like to wear
My mommy’s shoes

I wear her dresses
And make up too,
Expensive perfumes
Go down the loo.

I make her mad
She shouts at me,
I will be so glad
When you reach three

Another year
I’ve given them hell,
Now there’s plenty
Of naughty stories to tell

Now it’s time
I’ll soon be three,
And best friends
With Mom I will be.

There will be
No bad girl tears,
No more
What is she up to fears?

Off to nursery
Now I go,
A place full of strangers
That I do not know.

Will I make friends?
Will I have fun?
Singing nursery rhymes
I have learnt with Mom.

At the table
I go and sit,
Do I know these people?
No not a bit.

Three fifteen
It is time to go,
Will Mom be waiting?
I just do not know.

I can not see her
Through the crowd,
I pray she is here
Did I say that loud?

Laughing out loud
I see her face,
Come on Mom
Get me out of this place.

Now I have been to nursery
For quite a while,
When I see Mom
I always smile.

It is really nice
To have a friend,
But it is a shame
They are only on lend

I will see you tomorrow
I often say,
We can go in the sand pit
If you want to play

Now I am there
At aged four,
At the big school
I wait by the door.

No more playing
You have too work hard,
The life of a four year old
 Is really hard

One plus four
Is what it takes?
Everyone knows
The number this makes.

Five plus two
We all know,
The working out
We have to show.

Six plus four
We have got going,
All the answers
We are knowing.

Another year
Has gone by so fast,
There are things I remember
As I think of the past.

I remember my doll
That Becky did take,
For her trouble
Her tea set I’d break.

I am a big girl now
I have reached five,
It is time for a hamster
Or anything that’s alive

Now I have
A lot of pets,
Goldfish, cats
And dogs I’ve met.

I take them home
To Mom and dad,
They say you can’t have them
That makes me sad.

But I know
That with a grin,
They will soften
And I will win.

So very glad
I took them home,
Caterpillars, spiders
And rabbits that roam.

A bird, a chicken
Even a duck,
I would take them home
But I am out of luck.

Now that I
 Have reached age six,
I’ll be a gymnast
And learn new tricks.

Life can be hard
But can be fun,
A magical journey
That has begun.

Still so many things
I’ve yet to do,
Visit the museum
Or maybe the zoo

Too big now
To write on walls,
But I still remember
How chocolate falls.

I remember
The sleepless nights,
With the coughing fits
That gave them frights.

Once again
A baby is due,
Mom said “I hope she
Is not naughty like you

I am a good girl
Came my reply,
But another baby
Made me sigh

Another baby
Another pain,
A lot more dolls
Washed in the drain

I will hide my toys
Away from you,
We will take it in turns
To wear mom’s shoes

It will not be long
You will be on your way,
I am now excited
You’re coming to stay.

You will be here
When I am seven years old
There will be stories
You will be told.

The time has come
You’re running late,
You were expected
At an earlier date

But soon there were
Tears of joy,
As dad ran in
And said it’s a boy.

I can not believe
You’re not a girl,
I even dreamt
How your hair I would curl.

Please do not worry
You’re not to blame,
You’re my brother
And I will love you the same.

I watch you
While you sleep,
There’s not a murmur
There’s not a peep.

Please wake up
I want to play,
Please do not sleep
The day away

I watched you crawl
I saw you walk
I was there
When you started to talk

A lot of fun
You have brought to us,
Always a smile
Without the fuss

It is my birthday
I am now eight,
I am having a party
And I am running late.

I get to wear
A party dress,
There is lots of food
And what a mess

Lots of games
For us to play,
And a great big cake
For this special day

Many things
We will share together,
Happy memories
We will share forever.

Nine years old
I am doing well,
Good at maths
And I can spell.

All the years
Soon fly by,
I do my best
I can only try.

Lots of things
I would not change,
Having a brother
Is not so strange

A protective sister
I have become,
I am a lovely girl now
says my Mom.

Now I am here
at number ten,
my bodies changing
it started then.

I have boobs
they have started to grow,
baggy clothes I wear
so it does not show.

How do I explain?
To my Mom,
I need a bra
This is not fun.

Lots of changes
I have started to feel,
I am too young for boobs
Even though they are real

I noticed these changes
I am having them all,
I have even noticed
I have got so tall.

Eleven years old
I am right now,
I have things to tell Mom
But I do not know how.

A boy gave me
My first kiss,
How do I tell Mom
Something likes this.

I get embarrassed
I do not know why,
It is only a kiss
From a silly boy

I would ask my brother
What I should do,
He is too young to know
What I am going through

Another year older
What can I say?
I am glad I will not be eleven
For another day

Twelve years old
The day has come,
To make her proud
My dear old Mom

All grown up
Make no mistake,
I am the singer
In the role I take.

I see Moms face
She looks so proud,
I hear her cheers
Above the crowd

Now the time
Is finally here,
I have started my periods
I silently cheer.

I have become
A woman at last,
Being a child
Is a thing of the past

At thirteen
I feel so old,
A tear away
Who will not be told?

Lots of homework
That is the rule,
Nothing will change
What you learn at school.

Maths and English
Biology too,
There is so much work
You have to do.

Another year older
I am fourteen now,
I got this far
But I do not know how.

Fifteen is a weird age
Lots of hormones
Turning anger to rage

Being a child
Seems so good,
Better than facing
 Womanhood

But I try and cope
My best,
To give Mom
A much needed rest.

Life goes on
You can be sure,
A mother’s love
Is always pure

Moms only want
The best for you,
It does not matter
What you do.
