Look On Down From The Bridge

Well hey there, old friend
How are things which you say quite swell
Oh things have not been so...
Well..I've never been the type to tell
Apologies for truancy, guilty I'll admit
Perhaps once time sobers, we can remodel
Ensuing memories could soon begin and
Converse in times incapable of chucking Camels

The long for a glass further constrains
Fore' a fidgeting mind requires alcohol
Fog casts around as if I'm dreaming
No, no laying: there I am, on a telephone?
On the other end at a beach
You're enjoying some time alone
As chaotic traffic thrusts laughter upon
A memory resurfaces a drive in the rain
Swerving so hard just to miss that opossum
And to which you ask of me

"Have you ever tried a guava?"
"No, but I've always dreamed of it"
On you go about how tall the waves
How Strange it is for a Sunday
"Have you been to church today?"
"No I missed for the ice-cream man"
"Took me five dollars in gas to chase the motherfucker down"

Laughter fills the void of lost connection
We hang up without a farewell
Never has a goodbye been spoken between us
Fore'..it never felt like the last time
But I've been trying to change
So there, I call back to say;
"I miss you, I love you, and goodbye"
Before I throw my phone off the bridge
