Only Babies Sing The Blues

How can the world be getting’ smaller
when my stack of bills is getting’ taller
somethings  gotta give…and mighty soon.
I got tired of sittin’ in this leakyboat
paddlin’ like hell to stay afloat,
so I just laid back and wrote this little tune.

When the road of life gets bumpy
and ya  get to feelin’ sad and grumpy
losers always know just what to do;
get that old guitar a whinin’
and sing a song about death or dyin’
or maybe how some lover jilted you.

(chorus)
Singin’ the blues is just another way
of cryin’ for your mama
another way of pretendin’ it ain’t true.
Like layin’ back and pluckin
on some old guitar and suckin’
on a bottle of booze
or smokin’ a joint or two.

I’ve had some of the very best
then I’ve suffered through all the rest,
and Brother…bad ain’t nearly as good.
No, the world ain’t always fair
each day’s just another dare
to see if you’ll do everything you should.

You can wail and moan and holler
how you’re down to your last dollar
and tell how life for you is just bad news.
But winners stand up and square their shoulders,
walk that line a little bolder,
cause Mister, only babies sing the blues.

(chorus)
Singin’ the blues is just another way
of cryin’ for your mama
another way of pretendin’ it ain’t true.
Like layin’ back and pluckin
on some old guitar and suckin’
on a bottle of booze
or smokin’ a joint or two.
