MEMORY OF EVIL

Phil Roberts 1957 (Melbourne)

Evil memories flood your mind
From the time you lived before,
When terror stalked this regal land
And life was hard and raw.

When creatures of the endless night
Broke through to stalk the day,
And death and madness, hand-in-hand
Hunted right across the plains.

Evil memories of evil times
When madness roamed afar,
And beings, barely human then
Found life was almost too hard.

Beings from an evil time
Stalked across the evil land,
And twilight creatures swooped and fed
On anything that came to hand.

Evil Memories of erstwhile times
When fear and loathing filled your life,
When every step was danger wrought
And death was ever rife.

Terror was a way of life
Nightmares haunted day and night,
Great lumbering creatures terror-borne
Would hunt, and kill, and fight.

Evil memories plague your mind
Reminding you of evil times,
When kill or be killed was the way
In far off distant climes.
