With the wind

SelcouthEgo 2003 (United States)

I miss you like Autumn;
feel you like the cold.
Everywhere I go
I’m a broken soul.

Though me and Autumn solace
and winter weighs heavy.
I’ll continue through
like it’s never ending.

When winter comes
I’ll feel your pull.
Two white doves will fly
through my open window.

They’ll pull me astray
to take me away.
Reminding me of
our blessed days.

Of you in the spring
on a bed of clovers.
Warm sweet peas and brown hair
laid over your shoulders.

I’d walk up and ask
“Where have you been?”
and you’d say so sweet
“With the wind.”

Though I didn’t think
you told the truth.
For a love so fast
it was deep and true.

Summers passed
storms swept through
Fate had known
I’d be with you.

Forever is only so long
summer had come and gone.
Leaves fell silent from trees
when you fell on your knees

Though it wasn’t your choice,
you wanted to stay.
life depleted it’s bay.

And as we came to an end.
I asked you one last time
“Where will you be?”

Before the lifeline stopped,
Before I came glue.
You said it clear as day
And it was true.

It is only now
after the doves fly away.
That I always remember
Your words on that July day.

And though forever for you
Lasted it’s time
Forever for me
Was defined.

When I think you’re gone.
The wind will blow
The smell of sweet peas
Through my window.

Then I’ll smile
Knowing love is true.
I’ll ask again
“Where have you been”
