"What Kind Of Fool Am I?"

"What Kind Of Fool Am I?"

I'm a long sighted fool;
   I'm that fool looking across twenty five years at you, still in love with the woman as much as I was the girl.

I'm that "Spinners" fool;
That fool that knows that "Love don't love nobody," yet it's me who has to love you?

I'm that dreaming fool;
That fool waking up in the middle of the night screaming with tears and a broken heart, over and over again because you still won't choose me!

I'm that contradicting fool;
That fool who doesn't believe in destiny yet knows that fate won't let our love be a lie!

I'm that reminiscent fool;
That fool sitting in a bar listening to you say the word's that would echo with the hollowness of a truth come too late, "I should've been with you! "

I'm that desperately grasping for time fool;
That fool who sees time slipping through his fingers in someone else's hands and realizes that the lifetime that he seeks can only be found in this moment of truth.

I'm that 1st Corinthians 13:7 fool;
That fool whose Love; Bares all things, Hopes all things, Believes all things, Endures all things, and whose Love Never Fails!

I'm that fool for always loving you, fool who's still loving you!

About this poem

I guess I am really just an every day fool, that fool who believes you can truly love everyone who the lord sends into your life. My problem was being the fool who wanted something in return! When you empty your picture and no one (or not the right one) is filling it up, you find that you are no longer pouring out love but pouring out need which can be mistaken for love.
