A—Ω

Vincent St. Clare 1991 (Austin, Texas)

Two mirrors stand
Adjacent, opposed
Staring into the infinity
They strive to approach

Becoming
But never being

About this poem

The difference between sense and actuality and the former's continuous striving the attain union with the latter is an ever-present yet subtle aspect of existence. Adjacent mirrors, which by showing themselves to one another and reflecting infinitely, make attaining any final reality impossible, suggesting that there is no numinous or "true" world to be discovered.
