relentless love

Scriptor 1955 (Washington)

.
O love that will not let me go
take from my heart the beat that dances
to the tune of thy pure longing
which with thy right hand enhances
.
all that in me which is of thee
tho it be a speck of dust, let
thy chesed entwined about me
raise me full above the debt
.
I owe to thee for all the sin
and shame, which kept me far from thee
now safe within thy bosom far
from my imagined destiny
.

About this poem

I wanted to illuminate the deeper meaning of 'chesed' - one of the siphirot on the Jewish Tree of Life. Chesed : the consistent, merciful, kind, ever-faithful, relentless, constantly-pursuing, lavish, extravagant, unrestrained, and furious love of God.
