A clipped wing

A clipped wing

To taste the glory of eternity
And share in all the joys of humanity
Is undefinable yet full of clarity
It is this freedom Which I breathe and I see

To fly and soar on clouds above
And taste all the colors of purest love
Where melody and dance fit hand in glove
These are the elements dreams are made of

But, To walk on water only to sink
To write volumes but unable to clearly think
To dream vividly but cannot sleep a wink
This life is a chain with a missing link

For every laughter are tears silently cried
For every new hope a dream has already died
Each new discovery is honestly belied.
It is not with victory but struggles have I sighed

We look for what tomorrow brings
Listening for the dove whom of peace sings
Ready to let go of all our old things
Forgetting there’s a clip on our wings

Still it doesn’t hurt us to plan for tomorrow
To let go of the poignant sorrow
Of the nighttime, dreams will borrow
Us to a place where death cannot follow

I close my eyes wherein I can see
A brighter world for you and for me
I open them to a world of possibility
And see the love of humanity
Once again I feel eternity.
