Family
You Will Always Be My Little Girl 1964 (Toronto)
Family is an anchor in this world of uncertainty
As a ship uses it to stop from drifting with no direction in the sea
And giving it a sense of safety amongst the waves that pound relentlessly
Preventing it from drifting into harms way
Family is an anchor in these changing times
As a string that holds a kite to the ground as it twists and dives
Letting it soar freely in the sky
Knowing that if the string was to break
The kite would flounder and spiral to the ground
Family gives you purpose
And a measure of self worth
A pride and a drive
To do your best on this earth
For family makes life worth living
No matter how strong the tide pulls you the other way
For family gives you the reason to hold strong
against the undertows of life everyday
When I find the wind blowing against my dreams
My Family gives me strength to turn it into a breeze
I can then harvest the wind to soar and explore
And give back to the people I adore
It's not the anchor
That lets me feel free
It's not the string that lets me soar through life
It is knowing I have people that care about me
I have all of these things
And I am proud to say
It is my Family
That made it this way
So if you're feeling down and blue
Tug on the anchor
I will always be there for you....
