Shades

Dark this land, so dark and cold,
No light shines here since times of old,
My darkest fears, they’ve come I dread,
I’ve awaken in the Land of Dead.

Shadows looms these halls of night,
Black is all I have in sight,
The terror grows, if feeds on me,
Oh, give me light and let me see!

Noise I hear, it can’t be true,
Away you devils, all of you!
My haunted youth from a time along,
You came to me and did me wrong!

But all that is here, I’ve known before,
In dreams, in visions, and thoughts I’ve stored,
I’ve released them all, and they stand here,
The answer to this world is clear.

Be gone you all is my command!
Before me, nay, you will not stand!
Your creator here has called to you,
I call your deaths, to me you’re through!

And then before me, I see a light,
Moving closer, growing bright,
The greatest test I leave behind,
That the fears of life are in one’s mind.
